They have traveled from their village, hoping to find better jobs in Saudi Arabia and eventually return home with their earnings. We see them at a Saudi airport waiting to be picked up, despite waiting all day, no one arrives to take them. Finally, a Saudi man arrives and asks them to get into the delivery van he is driving. Najeeb and Hakim try to communicate with the Arab man to make him understand that they have come to work for a respectable company, but they do not understand each otherโs language. Thinking that the Arab is from the company they have come to work for, they both climb into the back of the delivery van.
Late that night, they arrive at a remote desert location, and the Saudi separates Najib and Hakim and detains them in different places. By morning, Najib begins to realize that he may have come with the wrong person. The sheep owner takes Najib to a farm where sheep, goats and camels are kept. Najib finds himself isolated and unable to communicate effectively with the sheep owner, as he is unable to speak Arabic.
Najibโs life quickly turns into a relentless cycle of herding sheep and goats from dawn until dusk. Days blur into weeks, and his condition worsens. One day, Najib looks at his reflection in the mirror, realizes the seriousness of his situation and decides to escape. However, his illegal sponsor catches him and injures him deeply in his leg, making escape impossible. Now, Najib canโt even think about escaping because he is constantly being watched. This leaves Najib helpless and trapped in his harsh reality.
After enduring harsh conditions and isolation, Najib witnesses the death of his former goat herder who tells him there is no way out of this place, his body covered in sand being eaten by vultures, realizing the danger of his situation. After years of suffering, he meets his friend Hakim, who introduces him to Ibrahim Khadiri, a Somali goat herder who has knowledge of escape routes. Taking advantage of the wedding of the sponsorโs daughter who is absent that night, they escape into the desert. Their journey turns into a dangerous adventure as they struggle to find food, water, and directions to any nearby street, resulting in Hakim dying of hunger and thirst and being covered in a sandstorm. After days of tiring walking, they find a small water oasis that saves them from death. Eventually, Khadiri somehow disappears. Najib finds himself alone in the desert, and finally finds his way. Although he is sick and weak, no car stops to transport him. Suddenly, a Rolls Royce arrives and a Saudi citizen who appears to be wealthy and tolerant gets out of it. He offers Najib water and forces him to sit in his luxurious car. After arriving in the city, the car owner allows Najib to get out of the car in what appears to be an Indian gathering area. The scenes of the wealthy Saudi man with the pleasant face and kind smile are the opposite of the harsh and domineering sheep owner, as the director wanted to present a positive equivalent to a negative model.
