A Saudi newspaper quoted what it called “informed sources” as saying that there is a criminal suspicion in the accident of the Saudi international Fahad Al-Muwallad, a player for Al-Shabab Club, who sustained serious injuries after falling from the balcony of his home in Dubai last Thursday.

The newspaper explained that Al-Muwallad was in Dubai to spend a vacation he obtained from his club, after participating with the Saudi national team in the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.

It revealed that “a personal friend of Fahad Al-Muwallad discovered the accident after he suddenly felt that he was not at home, and searched for him everywhere inside the house, and discovered him motionless under the balcony of the house, so he immediately called the police.”

In turn, the Saudi Foreign Ministry confirmed that Al-Muwallad was admitted to intensive care in Dubai after falling from the balcony of his home in the Emirati emirate.

The Saudi Consulate in Dubai stated on the X platform that “in reference to what was circulated in various media outlets regarding the player Fahad Al-Muwallad, the Consulate General in Dubai would like to inform that it received a report of an accident that occurred to the player in his private home in Dubai last Thursday.”

The consulate stated that it “is still following up on the investigations with the Dubai Police General Command, and the consulate would like to clarify that the player’s health condition is under monitoring.

The 30-year-old Al-Mawlid was involved in the accident after participating with his country’s national team in the Asian qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, where he participated as a substitute against Indonesia and China.

The Dubai Media Office stated, quoting the Dubai Police General Command, that Al-Mawlid “fell from the balcony of his home on the second floor while he was on a short vacation in Dubai.” It added that “the player’s health condition is under monitoring and he is in intensive care in a hospital in Dubai.”
